In this lecture, principal stages in the development of Old Kingdom Egypt (about 2700-2150 BC) will be presented and discussed. The era of the pyramid builders will be outlined as a non-linear process in which agency, innovation and leap-wise development in combination with multiplier effect played a principal role. It will also show how ancient Egyptian history relates to comparative studies of civilisations, and the seven universal laws governing any given society, be it past or present.
Professor Miroslav Barta is Professor of Egyptology at the Czech Institute of Egyptology, Charles University in Prague.
