This lecture will highlight the excavation and restoration activities undertaken by Edouard Naville and his team and funded by the EEF and is based on Naville’s publications, EEF (EES) reports, and images taken by Naville, his wife Marguerite, and the EEF photographer. The talk is the foundation of a more comprehensive forthcoming one, in which additional information from the Naville archives in Geneva will be added.
Marcel Maessen is Founder of t3.wy Projects.
Egyptology has become part of history, and now there is a movement to investigate and study its evolution. “t3.wy Projects” has been a frontrunner in this field. In June 2009, with the aid of a small staff, Marcel (IT Application specialist) and Monica Maessen (HR Manager) set up a website to draw attention to the subject of Egyptian dig houses, as well as other undisclosed Egyptological archival material, such as photographs and manuscripts.
This website provoked an outpouring of interest in the subject from academics and the general public alike. As a result, the Directors of t3.wy Projects decided to take this private project to the next level by starting a non-profit foundation. “The t3.wy Foundation for historical research into the history of Egyptology” was established in July 2014. The goals were to raise much-needed funds and to continue and expand in-depth research on dig houses and related topics. Unfortunately, much needed sponsorship and funding isn’t readily available in the world, so by mid 2017, the foundation was abrogated. t3.wy Projects has since continued as a hobby, and with the same eagerness and dedication as before, Marcel and Monica do their research, albeit on a smaller scale, in Egypt and the rest of the world.
